They talked for a long time.

Later, Cassie went back to work, knowing any attempt to carry out her plan would have to wait until she had scheduled free time. Even then, it would only work if she found the EVA bay deserted.

Once her shift was over, she checked the work schedules and saw Javier and Lebed were in the EVA bay at that moment, running intensive diagnostics on all three Shrimps. All future EVA work had been cancelled, pending a much deeper investigation.

There was nothing to do in the meantime but try to get some sleep, but this was proving increasingly difficult, no matter how dog-tired she felt. She took something to knock herself out and woke seven hours later, feeling once again as if she’d barely closed her eyes.

But she had a plan. And if she was ever going to execute it, it had to be now.

On her way to the canteen to get coffee and a breakfast burrito, Cassie found another message waiting for her from the machine.

UNKNOWN MESSAGE SOURCE: COMMAND DECK FIRST. ACCESS THE FOLLOWING SERVERS AND RESET THE FOLLOWING PERMISSIONS.
